SIDEWALK NOTESField notes
An independent city journal

A good day starts on foot

Small walks, neighborhood rituals, and the places you notice when you leave enough time to get lost

01 / Morning

Take the long way to coffee

Start a block away from the busiest street. Look for a bakery opening its doors, a grocery unloading produce, or the first patch of sun on a quiet stoop. The route matters more than the destination.

02 / Afternoon

Read a city from its waterfront

Harbor paths and river parks tell stories that the skyline leaves out. Walk until the office towers give way to warehouses, then pause where locals sit with their lunch. Bring water and leave the headphones in your bag.

03 / Evening

Keep one hour unplanned

A secondhand bookshop, a public garden, a diner with a handwritten menu. Save a little daylight for a place you did not mark on the map. Write down one detail before heading home.
